One small (and probably insignificant) detail I really liked about this episode is that when Hook was shown to care for only himself he was behind Emma:
seemingly protecting himself from being hurt again. Then when he decides that he has the capacity to care for others, we begin to see that:
He begins standing in front of Emma, seemingly protecting HER.
